
Chhattisgarh is located in central India, bordered by Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra to the west, Uttar Pradesh to the north, Odisha and Jharkhand to the east, and Andhra Pradesh to the south. The state is rich in mineral resources and is India’s only producer of tin concentrates. Known for its surplus power, Korba district is dubbed the “Power Capital of India.” As of May 2024, the state had a total installed power generation capacity of 14,161.12 MW, with major contributions from private and central utilities. Chhattisgarh also has significant reserves of coal, iron ore, dolomite, bauxite, and limestone, making it a mineral-rich powerhouse.
In 2024–25, Chhattisgarh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) was estimated at Rs. 5.61 trillion (US$ 67.27 billion), with a CAGR of 10.67% since 2015–16. The state is among the few in India with a profitable utility-based electricity model. With improved infrastructure and national highway projects worth Rs. 11,000 crore approved in 2024, Chhattisgarh continues to enhance its industrial backbone and connectivity.
Merchandise exports from the state were US$ 2.02 billion in FY24. Chhattisgarh earned record mineral revenue of Rs. 13,000 crore in 2023–24 and received investment proposals worth over Rs. 90,000 crore in the past four years, establishing its growing prominence as an investment destination.
